GREENWICH Council, of all ‘pubic bodies’ should have known better than to want to be playing a role in brining about in any way another Millennium Dome! For underneath the overblown boast that it, Greenwich Council's controlling clique, is almost there on its alleged bid to have a CROSSRAIL station at Woolwich' is the truth that to get a CrossRail station, the public will have to cough up most of the £20 Billion that it will cist [at 2006 prices] to construct the CROSSRAIL link. So the disaster will be many times the disaster that was [and remains] the Millennium Dome. At Greenwich. But this is exactly what the elements who control the current Greenwich Council, are doing: they are brazenly, irresponsibly promoting the lie that having a ‘Crossrail station’ at Woolwich will solve so many problems the borough faces that the issue is beyond any examination of any of the central evidence concerning the cost and the alleged benefits of having a 'CrossRail station' at Woolwich from their own local people. Not in London. Not in the South East. Not in the UK. What it was demanded by was a rag bag of touts put into touting employment by Big Business generally and the construction and engineering conglomerates who wanted to make big loots at the expense of the public. So openly defiant of reason and rationality are the controlling elements that they are advertising the fact that they are committing Greenwich Council to borrowing almost £200 million from another anti-social, privatising outfit operating in the Greenwich area. They must be secretly colluding with the touts all across the East London are where ‘local council’s are concerned – those must be being whipped by the Blaring Big Business touts to back the lie that Crossrail will bring untold benefits – another Blairing, City of London-prompted, Livingstone-massaged CrossRail hole Bill lie. This is an updater questionnaire on your role as the local MP in opposing the Crossrail hole plan so far.
Khoodeelaar! is basing this questionnaire on the evidential foundation that you are on record as having opposed the Crossrail hole Bill inside the UK House of Commons. Especially in July 2005 and again in June 2006.
Based on the contents of your published statements against CrossRail, we are putting this to you today Monday 19 February 2007:
1. Have you taken any step within the existing parliamentary procedures and processes to further the opposition you had stated to the CrossRail Bill in your speech on 19 July 2005? We are referring in particular to the reservations and questions you had raised concerning the illegality and the unconstitutionality about the conduct on the part of the Crossrail Bill promoters and of its other promoters. In very specific terms, we are here asking you about the stated bundle of legal papers that you stated [19 July 2005] had been ignored or overlooked or neglected by the Crossrail Bill promoting interests in Parliament.
2. What step or steps have you taken since 19 July 2005 to see that those matters that you had raised on 19 July 2005 have been addressed by the Crossrail Bill promoters, by the Crossrail Bill ‘select committee, by CLRL and by other interests including by the local Tower Hamlets Borough Council, by the London mayor Ken Livingstone and by the Greater London Assembly IN SO FAR each of those parties has had any part [to whatever extent in fact and on the facts] in the promotion of the Crossrail Bill as it was on 19 July 2005 and as it ahs been since the ‘written statement’ by then Transport Secretary Alistair Darling [dated 30 March 2006] ?
3. As we have made available to you directly and to your group generally the contents of ALL our key representations as addressed to the Secretary of State and the local Council and to the local community, we expected you to reply. We have not received any reply to any of the factual communications from you.
Why?
4. We accepted an invitation from you to attend the first ever meeting with you on 30 January 2006. The agreement at that date was based on your suggestion that there would be a meeting on a regular basis, twice every month. What happened to that?
Or are we misstating that agreement in any respect here? If we are, please tell us in what particular.
5. We have raised in public questions about your various EDMs. We have pointed out that you have not tabled any EDMs about Crossrail hole Bill. Why haven’t you raised any EDMs on the subject?
6. You are on the record as having stated that at least in the past you and Alan Meale were friends. As it was Meale who stopped you [in June 2006] from going into certain discussion about the Crossrail hole Bill concerning the CROSSRAIL Whitechapel station, do you agree that he no longer is a friend in that he has been acting with no regard as to how his decision or action would affect your right to represent the opposition to CrossRail that is such a major issue in your current constituency? Or was he right to stop you from raising the aspect of the Crossrail hole Bill in the way that he did, at the point of the presentation [by you of your formal petition] that he did and with the constitutional implications that he did? If he was right, how? If he was wrong, then why have you not followed up the wrong by taking any steps to get that action by Meale and by his ‘select committee’ reversed?
7. Meale’s committee also made a so-called interim set of recommendations in July 2006. One of the main ones was that it considered Hanbury Street to be the proper site for a Crossrail hole. Have you made any follow up move against that? If not, was your decision to take no step against that caused by ‘procedure’? If ‘procedure’ what procedure was that? If however you have taken any step or more to counter and to oppose Meale’s committee’s ‘recommendations' of July 2006, what have you actually done on that and with what result? The Muhammad Haque daily political commentary on why the slogan about London subsiding the rest of the UK is a slogan that in itself is too dishonest to credit.
The truth is that in London, there are two clear economic groups, the haves and the looters and the have-nots and the looted. Even those who make careers by specialising on the alleged London benevolence to the rest of the UK concede that within London there are serious areas of deprivation which warrant addressing. This is conceded in the coverage of the latest London-saved-the –rest of the Uk plug carried today in the London-based newspaper the Independent.
The Impendent does not do the job of telling the truth about the impoverishing role that the CrossRail hole plot is causing. In fact, it perpetrates the lie by giving another Ken Livingstone-placed plug to the CrossRail hole plot. The powers given to the holder of the post of mayor of London have not been used to defend the communities in London. Khoodeelaar! will seek to reverse the trend of anti-democratic egotistic use of the powers that Ken Livingstone has created in the years since he was allowed to get into the office of mayor of London. Khoodeelaar! will reinstate local communities to the position of having an actual say on what happens to the local environment, the local spaces and the local resources. The needs of the people in the area concerned will be given priority and the exercise in consulting the people will be replaced by a Charter of Demands that the local community in each locality will be asked to provide. No planning matter will be decided in secret and all decisions will be subject to the approval of the people in the area who will be allowed a reasonable period in context to comment on any planning decision that may be made by the mayor
